You will have the opportunity to discover several appellations, delve deeper into the wines of the Medoc, Pomerol, Sauternes and Graves and explore the bay of Arcachon for something a little different.   A day in Bordeaux will set the scene for this week long discovery of Bordeaux wine.

 

Included: 6 nights accommodation in a double room (classic category) with breakfast, tourist tax, all visits and tastings, 2 hour bordeaux walking tour, 4 lunches with wines, 2 dinners with wines, transportation, airport or station transfers, a guide for the entire stay, Arcachon boat tour, oyster and white wine tasting, Bordeaux City passes allowing entry to the following

A welcome dinner and an informal introduction to Bordeaux wines, wineries, the people and the grapes with your hostess and guide for the week. We will lead you gently into this varied and complex wine region.The best way to start off your Bordeaux discovery.

Depart with your guide for a 2 hour Bordeaux City Walking Tour followed by a visit at La Cité du Vin (The Wine City). Your guide will meet you at your hotel. Departure for a guided walk in Bordeaux then on the tram to the Cite du Vin. Bordeaux, the city, once named the "Sleeping Beauty" of France, has definitely awakened! Discover the main historic monuments and the unique architecture of Bordeaux. This tour will cover the historic center of this UNESCO city and you will sample some of our local delicacies.For the rest of the day. We will provide you with a Bordeaux City Pass to use on your own. This is an all day pass which includes an all day tram ticket, entry into 20 different museums and the wine museum.

Sept 20
Graves and Sauternes Day.
Discover the delights of this predominantly white wine region. Taste the dry wines of the Graves, the sweet wines of Sauternes and the reds of the Pessac Leognan appellations. Lunch in a restaurant in Sauternes is a highlight of the day.
Sept 21
Pomerol and St Emilion.
A full day to discover the renowned wines of Pomerol, to stroll the streets of the UNESCO world heritage site of St Emilion and visit a classified growth or two in the area. Lunch is in a delightful chateau which has converted into a successful restaurant.
Sept 22
Classified Growths of the Medoc.
Today we have an in depth exploration into the Medoc wines. Discover aromas, why and how we smell. We will have a relaxed picnic lunch in a winery and taste the well known wines of Margaux and Pauillac. Discover the different classifications of this region. Yes there is more than one!
Sept 23
Arcachon.
The historic spa town of Arcachon is situated at the entrance to a tidal bay on the Atlantic coast and is surrounded by more than seven kilometers of sandy beaches. Follow the Bordelaise to their preferred holiday destination with a Day on the Bay.

Arrive at Arcachon, board a boat for your tour around the bay.
Between sea and sky, admire the emblematic cabins on stilts, traverse the hectares of oyster farms and sail along the waterfront oyster-farming hamlets of the Cap Ferret peninsula; Piquey, Le Canon, l'Herbe & la Vigne.

Stop at an oyster producer’s cabin for an oyster tasting, with white wine, on a waterfront terrace.

Continue by boat to charming fashionable town of Cap Ferret for a 3 course lunch facing the dune du Pyla, Europe’s largest sand-dune. Enjoy fresh food with a stunning view.

Return to Arcachon by boat then to Bordeaux.

Farewell dinner in a popular downtown brasserie.
