One Day Bordeaux Wine Tour: Graves region - 7 to 15 people

The Graves region, first area in Bordeaux to produce and sell high quality wines as early as the 12th century. Graves is derived from gravel which is the prime component in the soil, along with clay and sand. This combination makes for the finest terroir in the region. Your one day Bordeaux wine tour in the graves will include dry white, sweet white and red wines accompanied by a delicious picnic lunch.

Today famous names such as Smith Haut Lafite, Liber Pater (one of the most expensive wine in the world - it just passed Domaine Romanée Conti), Carbonnieux, Haut Bailly, Fieuzal and Domaine de Chevalier can be found in this region.

For your health and safety our tours are all now fully private tours. We do not mix your family or friends with other people.

Day 1 Pessac-Leognan, Graves & Sauternes

A morning of cellar visits and tastings in a Classified Growth of Pessac-Leognan. (sample properties: Chateau Haut Brion, Chateau Pape Clement, Smith Haut Lafitte, Carbonnieux, Haut Bailly, Domaine du Chevalier)

Lunch in a winery restaurant in the Graves appellation. (not included)

Two Chateau visits with tastings in Sauternes Classified Growth properties. (Chateau Yquem, Chateau Suduiraut, Chateau de Fargues, Chateau Sigalas Rabaud, Chateau d'Arche, Chateau Guiraud, Rayne Vigneeau)

On the way to your first visit your guide will give you an explanation about the Bordeaux wines characteristics and Classifications and the complexity of the different appellations in the Graves region. Learn how soil and climate as well as the type of grapes can influence the flavor of the wine.

One visit before lunch in a classified growth in Pessac Leognan.

The lunch on the grounds of a Château under the shade of the giant trees in the courtyard, (included in the price) followed by a visit and tasting.

Decanter tours made everything so easy.   Drivers were on time every time.   Our guide Veronica was amazing and felt like she was a member of our group (only with a lot more wine knowledge) right away.

  My wife and I went to Paris for her birthday and we booked a day trip to Bordeaux with Decanter Tours...I did this several months in advance and Julie at Decanter was great with communicating back and forth to set up a customized tour for us based on the time we were spending there.  Upon arrival at the Bordeaux train station we were met by Janice, out tour guide for the day...to say Janice was amazing would be an understatement.  Her knowledge of the Bordeaux region, wine and Chateau's in the area was very impressive...we visited 2 different Chateau's that day and Janice could have given the tours as well as the representatives that greeted us at each Chateau.  Of course the Bordeaux countryside, Chateau's, and wine were breathtaking but Janice just really made it that much better...that day was definitely a highlight of our trip.
