Veronica even went the extra mile, we went with our daughter and Veronica even took the time to make sure Marcela was making a great experience as well and even colored and played with her, she was truly exceptional. Thibault was an excellent driver — professional, friendly, and made the whole journey smooth and relaxing. Together, they created the perfect balance of fun, education, and comfort. It truly felt like a special experience, far beyond a typical tour. Each tour was private and were all unique regarding the personalized experiences. Yes 6! We were a party of 4 who spent 5 full days in the broader Bordeaux region with our host Veronica. Veronica was simply fantastic! She was always prepared, knowledgeable, thorough, thoughtful and attentive, professional, yet easy going, and just a delight to be around. She made an incredible trip even better! Her deep and comprehensive knowledge of the region, the wines produced, classifications, etc., was invaluable, as she prepped us before each Chateau visited. I came away from this trip with a much better understanding of Bordeaux wines and eager to learn more. It was also obvious the staff at each Chateau knew Veronica well and enjoyed working with her. We visited Bordeaux for a few days and decided to do two days of a guided wine tour - day one on the Right Bank and day two on the Left. We started with a wishlist of chateaus to visit and Julie did a fab job of getting us into some top wineries (some of our wish list places were closed or didn’t accept visitors) but she rounded out both days with some fantastic experiences. The moment we met Veronica, our tour guide, we knew we were in for a great couple of days! Her knowledge of the region, chateaus, history and everything in between was on point. We visited Chateau Pavie, Chateau Figeac, Chateau Clinet, Chateau Pichon-Longueville Baron, Chateau Marquis d’Alesme and Chateau Ferrière. It was harvest time which varies slightly year to year - we saw more behind the scenes winemaking than we expected which was a real treat! Veronica helped me secure a bottle of Chateau d’Yquem from 1976 from a wonderful wine shop in Saint-Émilion which I plan to open next year for my 50th! Such a great experience from start to finish - highly recommend these ladies if you’re looking to maximize your time in Bordeaux and get the most out of the experience! I was also nervous—this was our 30th wedding anniversary, and I wanted every detail to be flawless. Julie listened carefully to the kind of experience we wanted and delivered exactly that: a seamless blend of history, culture, and, of course, incredible wine. From day one, we knew all we had to do was relax and enjoy. One unforgettable highlight was drinking wine at Château Carbonnieux with the owner, from a pecan cask crafted from the wood of a pecan tree Thomas Jefferson himself had planted—later damaged in a storm. As a University of Virginia graduate, which Jefferson founded, this was a profoundly personal and precious moment Julie made possible. On top of it all, Julie went out of her way to meet us in person at one of the wineries and surprised us with a beautiful bottle of wine as an anniversary gift. Visiting Bordeaux has always been a bucket list item for me ever since I first tried the wine over 20 years ago. So, when the opportunity to visit came up, I jumped at it and contacted Decanter Tours. We quickly found ourselves in the heart of some of the most storied Château’s.
