Wine is for Sharing

Day 3 – the Medoc

A beautiful sunny day.  Our first visit is to the prestigious third growth Chateau Palmer.  In the heart of the Margaux appellation this winery never fails to please clients.   Their pristine cellars and delicious wines are hard to beat.  We tasted both the Chateau Palmer and the Alter Ego 2007.  Both wines were tasting very well.

A quick drive up the D2 Wine Route for a few essential photo opportunities of Chateau Lafite Rothschilde and Cos d’Estournel then we were back to Cordeillan Bages in Pauillac for the highlight of the day.

Bergerac: Food & Wine in Perigord

I love my job! This weekend I get to accompany three English journalists on a foodie press trip through one of France’s gastronomic capitals, Bergerac. The Perigord is full of charming half timbered houses, roling hills and truffels. Today was an education on the Bergerac terroir and apellations with a tasting at two wineries. Tomorrow the real fun starts. We are up early for a truffel hunt and cooking with truffels. Can’t wait!

Pessac Leognan Chateau Pape Clement and Haut Bailly

Visits at Chateau Pape Clement start with the history of the property. Each chateau has a story to tell. Rich in architecture and culture, Bordeaux has so much to offer the wine enthusiast.
American-owned Haut Bailly is an exceptional cru and they have an exciting new project!  They have just hired a new chef and can propose lunches and dinners for small groups.  A rare treat in this area!
